This Tele's not right surely?

What's Hot

I am certainly not a Tele expert but just spotted this on ebay and the truss rod hole on the headstock looks sus to me.

Bloke doesn't seem to know if it is a AVRI or not?

All seems a bit queer.

Advice from more learned members please.

Looks like it has two piece neck  ie separate fret board .As its a maple neck this is wrong I suspect .I usually judge this as cheap asian neck though Fender have done some in the past i think .If i see that with Fender decal I dont bother any further.

    I love statements like this:

Its a superb instrument and never played by me and I've owned it for over ten years

What kind of person has a "superb instrument" for over 10years which apparently is still in tune from when they bought it but they've NEVER PLAYED IT?
Nowt as queer as folk, or as ebay ads  :|

It has 22 frets for a start so it definitely isn't a Vintage Reissue. Don't like the 2 string trees either Even the case is wrong.

    Partsocaster at best I suspect.

Dodgy as hell. Just a reminder that a high number of feedback is no basis for trust on its own.

As I looked at it, ebay app suggested a CIJ Jerry Donahue tele so I looked at that. The seller has converted it from 5 way with extra caps to a straight 4 way and also swapped the pickups for BKP. Which is fine but it kinda removes all the things that make it a Jerry Donahue ;)

I'm surprised that it hasn't been pulled already, since I assume MattFGBI will have reported it via Fender UK.

Oh god, I hadn't even noticed that people had actually bid on it!

Indeed, not any kind of Fender or Squier, it's just a very, very bad knockoff.  And the flowery description shows that the seller's not making any kind of honest mistake either.  He's just a crook.
