It's a one to many relationship
One footswitch can control multiple functions
However 1 effects block can only have 1 footswitch assigned to it
So as per teetonals example when he has a delay and a reverb assigned
He loses the ability to turn them off individually
As with all things Helix there is a work around involving adding the mix parameter to a footswitch to set it from 0 to 100

@Cabicular, didn't know that! haven't really got that far.

I suppose you could also have a duplicate effect block if required.
The good thing is the scribble strips can be adjusted to write something that makes sense :)

OK, think I understand that, thanks.

Would a workaround for it also be to have one footswitch move to the next preset, which also then engages certain things on the amp by midi and engages a different delay setting...?

Basically - within a bank, are there multiple presets?

You don't really want to change presets. There is bit of lag and a gap, so you can't play seamlessly.

The issue is that when you change patch helix needs to clear, then load quite a lot of info.

Best way is to get everything you need in the patch for a song, then move to the next patch for the next song,  Kind of how most pros would use a G2 etc... Each patch can contain a lot of effects blocks, especially if you link the paths A&B together. For normal stuff I'm yet to ever run out of DSP..

Yes but it's not an ideal way to do it
There is a perceptable drop out while moving between presets
But you have 10 buttons and can chain a lot of FX up
Then any paramater in the fx can be assigned to a footswitch
So for example if you want a switch to change channel on your amp and increase the delay wetness and feedback by 10% then that is not problem on a single switch. You still retain the ability to have a seperate delay on off switch
Or you can assign almost anything to an exp pedal sweep (multiple things at once)
It's a really flexible system and there is almost always a way to do something

For example I have one patch with a footswitch that bypasses all the amp sims, by passes all the cabinets, enables the Leslie sim and engages the loop with the External b9 pedal
All in all its maybe 7 functions off a single footswitch

Cheers - that sounds like just what I'm after!

Well, I'm selling mine, decided for sure last night, it is a great bit of kit and had mine from initial release date. Even using third party IR's I decided it's not for me, I'll still be following this thread with interest though as its cool that others are getting the sounds they want :)

@Sweepy, what has been the tipping point?

I just can't get a sound I'm 100% happy with, the effects are superb, but the amps just don't seem to do it for me, I'm going back to Scuffham for recording and a nice valve amp and a few pedals for other duties

Yes, would agree with that. It won't replace my live rig any time soon and I also prefer Sgear, but I'm starting to find some good sounds now so pretty sure I'm going to keep it.

Are you all running your Helix through an Amp return or dedicated wedge?

What boards are you guys using for the Helix? I'm looking at the Pedaltrain Pro SC to mount it on, plus a Relay G70 and talkbox... curious what everyone else has.

I don't think any modeller is going to do it for me tbh
The hybrid model works great though (i.e. amp modeller into valve power amp and standard speakers)
To me its not different to putting a tube screamer in front of a Fender.
Transistors (and modellng) are fine in the preamp. The power amp is the bit where I notice it

I have to add the 32 is a big board allowing for another EXP pedal, a full sized wah, another pedal or two and the wireless reciever

I used mine through both active wedges, keyboard combos and also through my desk into APS Aeon's, all 3 systems worked as well as eachother tbh

My Helix Rack csme on Friday and the Helix control came today. So far, very impressed. Anyone had any luck getting a Boss FV-500L working as an expression pedal?
