If I reckon something happened a few months ago, then that usually means it was about five years ago. Based on that logic, I'm going with .... 2009.

And now I'm off to google to check how wrong I am.

He died at 94 I think, 2015 would be his 100th so 2009

Trying not to go with 2009 now - from memory two or three years ago, so 2012. But, TBH, I suspect I'd give that answer for almost anybody. Nelson Mandela, Hendrix, Forsyth, my dreams, etc.
