One of the most important and influential figures in modern music.

If he produced a lot of crap as well as the great stuff, it's because he was never afraid to try something different.

Great voice too, regardless of lack of conventional ability as a singer. Two of my favorite guest appearances are his on Simple Minds' 'This Is Your Land' and The Killers' 'Tranquilize'.
