Morrissey - is it just me who can't understand the worship?

I'm a fan of both the Smiths and Morrissey's solo work.

Morrissey himself is a much, much better singer now than he was back then in the Smiths, he's really improved over time.

I actually prefer his solo years, but even as a fan of his music I don't especially like him as a person.

there was an interview on the radio with the chap who gave Morrissey singing lessons. As I recall it Morrissey refused to sing during the lessons and basically paid to sit there.

IMHO the guy has serious issues he hasn't dealt with, reminds me of Sinead O'Connor of old more than anyone else.

I find him entertaining in a camp / high kitsch kind of way. But he does talk a load of old cobblers regularly.

I totally agree with this and the comparison.

It's quiff sporting bank manager Moz-a-likes that really bug me.

I read some of the extracts on the BBC news site when the book came out.  It showed that while creating lyrics and prose can both be classed as 'writing', they're very different skills.
