Sorry about this but I just don't rate LC in that clip.  He's flat, his timing is sloppy, he sounds like an old man doing karaoke - averagely.

If you don't get why none of that is important and actually adds to what makes it great then you probably aren't really listing to it from the right viewpoint . I agree with not_the_dj that the band are a bit cheesy too, but even that seems to enhance it somehow.

For what it's worth one of the best performances I've ever seen of any song was an old drunken man doing karaoke, terribly… House Of The Rising Sun. You maybe had to be there to get it.

Leonard Cohen is a genius, but I don't particularly like that album (Various Positions), which marked the beginning of his cheesy synth period.

So I have to agree that Jeff Buckley's version is superior to the original recorded Cohen version, though actually I don't like his version all that much either as it's a bit too rambling.
