I'm now a member of the Taco club... great little amp..

The more I play it the more I'm surprised that he can get that tone out of a 20W EL84 based amp.. It sounds like a 100W monster.

What sort of circuit is the Stoneham? Looks cracking, I remember the NAD on that! Is it comparable to the friedman?

The Stoneham is great.. Channel 1 is vintage marshall with a Plexi/JMP voice switch, Channel 2 is a hot rod marshall.. similar to the brown eye but with Stoneham's own take on it.

What speaker cabs are you chaps using? I'm thinking of dropping my Bogner and getting a 4x12 instead.

  • I have a couple of Pink Taco cabs loaded with Creambacks. Basically the are Bogner cubes. Sound is very cool, I even take them out with my Brown Eye and Wizard!!!

I have a 1x12 with a Creamback and a 4x12 with V30/75 X pattern, sadly the big one doesn't leave the house much!

When you gake the chassis out you realise just how small it is, it could have gone in a headshell 25% smaller

yea I noticed that.. just assumed it went all the way from one end to the other but it doesn't.. it's almost Tiny Terror sized..

Tempted to get a 1x12 cab for a small rig..

i use mine with a 4x12 at home and a 1x12 with the band!

Such a top amp quiet, but especially at volume, i don't use any pedals with mine!!!

I was just using my small board.. Reverb, Delay, Phaser, Micro Amp in the loop for Solos, TS9, Wah.  Didn't use the TS9 as it wasn't needed.

Last night I was playing through a crappy Marshall MG 4x12, terrible cabs, but still sounded good. Should wound Ace through my Bogner cab.

Shame it hasn't got a 2nd channel, but I can live without.

quick update, i've recently started playing with a Metallica tribute band and i have to say the Pink Taco through a 4x12 sounds absolutely monstrous for this type of stuff. The other guitar player has an original 5150 and my little 20w Taco holds it's own no problem (volume was on 3...), in fact I prefer the tone to the 5150, it's much more organic and cuts through brilliantly.

in case you're wondering i use a separate amp for the Metallica chorus/clean plinky plonk stuff and it sounds ace :D

Still got my PT, although don't use it much since getting  BE100.. Thinking of selling it as it's an expensive amp to keep as a backup.
