For me the Bon Jovi, Europe, Warrant, Poison etc all fit in my GOOD music collection.
Cliff was awesome in the 70s - We Don't Talk anymore & Carrie were killer tunes.
    Abba were brilliant.

I loved loads of glam rock bands that had questionable musicianship now and then and very questionable dress sense, but I loved them...however I'll offer this up even though it was great fun back in 1986

I don't care a bit for the likes of Nikki Minaj etc but Katy Perry on the other hand - yes please
This guitar should have been covered by a decent glam rock band as the chord movement is so cool

  • @felineguitars "I kissed a girl" must be the most unsubtle example of "sex sells" ever. Cracking tune though.

Driving in this morning. I heard an old fave...

    Roachford - Cuddly Toy

To be honest I don't know if it counts as bad. It's a cracking tune.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

I watched that and thought it would be a great choon for a covers band. If people don't dance to that they are dead.

    [Demis Roussos]

He was in Aphrodite's Child, and thus gets a free pass no matter how cheesy his later stuff was.

Well, I have an abiding love of disposable pop, so lots of things ... maybe this?

(Marilyn's "Calling Your Name", to save your ears if you're feeling delicate)

    Or what about this:

(The Nolans - "I'm In The Mood For Dancing")

    (I'm reliving my teens :-) )

Things is though - are these bad songs? I dunno ... I've never really understood the "guilty pleasures" thing. If you like a song, then it's a good song. This whole idea that there are songs you're not "supposed" to like is rubbish.

I got Abba's Arrival when I was 6 and I've never stopped loving it since (yes, including "Tiger"). I spent a good amount of the 90s/00s telling everyone how good Abba were and it's only in the last few years that I've found people mostly agreeing with me. Cliff's late 70s/early 80s stuff is mostly solid gold (we'll just skim over "Daddy's Home" which is astonishingly creepy); I went to a Cliff concert in the 90s with my Mum and it was superb.

I like Garry Mulholland's theory (stated in his excellent book This Is Uncool) that everyone has one good single in them.

I discovered their album 666 a couple of years ago, it's just fantastic. "The Four Horsemen" - epic!

I actually *bought* the CD single.

And I had a c15min drive into the office at the time, so I spent about 3mths listening to it on the commute in ...

    Still like it though.

I have just realised that I like the song The Prayer.  :-O
But I like it more when it is not Celine Dion singing it.
Haven't yet decided which version I like. For me it is not a candidate for worst song  but this thread was the best fit.

    Reminder of the tune.

Some of John Denver's output eg Starwood in Aspen

Apparently it's not cool to like it but I don't mind it at all
