    I used this precision tape stuff and a Stanley knife to tidy up any lacquer that had managed to get underneath - this tended to happen on the inside of curves. The tape was almost a perfect fit, however I did have to apply twice - once when spraying the top, and once when spraying the sides and back - as it was very, very slightly too wide. It was also really straightforward to tidy things up afterwards with the Stanley knife. Obviously the clear coat was then applied without the binding being masked.
