linking to a forum where many of the posts/comments say MusicRadar shat on it's members from up on high is quite an interesting thing to do.Perhaps they should have had a look on here first. Interesting though.

I suspect the editorial staff at MR are as pissed off with the techies/higher up management/etc as we are that their forum was shonky and now MIA.

    They haven't lost it.
They are keeping the forum offline because the code it is running has security problems and if they put it online someone might easily hack it.
To get it back online they will need to patch it to fix the security problems.

...but I'm guessing that they've hacked the code around too much to be able to implement the upstream fix, and now don't know what to do with it all ;)

Wouldn't it be something if they chaged the destination of the link on MR to forward people to Fretboard?

    TechyQs

    1.
IF we installed a temporary version of the software that they were using on a secure server, and IF we had a copy of the database that supported the MR forum (a last backup, or whatever), would we be able to load the db onto our server?

    2.
Would we then be able to migrate the contents of the db from the old forum software into our nice shiny new Vanilla software?  I think I've seen migration utilities that purport to be able to do this.

Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

Yes, but it would be a different forum to this one. (the importer blows away the existing DB so we can't add it on to here)
