We didn't need to be that clever.

However, I did have to be on the top of my game to spot that today's new userID "7th fret" was actually yesterday's new userID - the now banned "5th fret" - in disguise, both being the newIDs created by the original LincolnBlue.

I'm just going to block userID "12th fret" now to save time later ...

Can we not just explain the rules to him and give him a second chance? Apart from this thing I don't recall him being a troublemaker.

We may not have the whole story (assuming there were PMs between him and the mods)....I'm also not aware he's ever caused trouble, or posted anything contentious. He asked for advice on here a number of times, and got answers. Seemed like just the sort of guy this place is for.

I understand that "rules are rules" and he broke one for the big instant ban rules, but it does seem a bit off when all he wanted was to change his user name.

That's just my perception on the situation, there might well be other stuff behind the scenes.

Doesn't look like he sent an email to ask to be let back, he just broke the rule again.

Is there an e-mail address he can use to contact the mods then (and does he know it), or are all lines of communication with him now closed. 

He obviously wants to say something else if he's tried to sign up again.

When I thought I had lost my password and couldn't get it to reset ( a facility I still can't get to work BTW) it occurred to me that the only way to contact the Mods would be to create a new account as there is no ( obvious) way to contact the forum without becoming a member. Presumably one of the Mods could retrieve his email and ask him if that's the issue?
