Change username

No, you're right of course but it's not something that would be done by someone who didn't want to be around here.

The modmins do a great job around here in keeping this place mostly dick-free. I just think that on this occasion it may have been the better option to either change his username or just allow him to continue with the new account (after sending him a PM to explain how close to a perma-ban he came).

Not my call, obviously, and you guys own the site.

Right then, I've swapped a couple of emails with LincolnBlue / 5thFret / 7thFret today.

Just because I had nothing better to do, having warned him - explicitly - on the thread that he created *not* to create a second ID, and then PM'ing him when he did.  Let's give the guy a 3rd chance.

The original ID will be reinstated, the latter two will not be.

We do not allow changing of IDs for various reasons, primarily the confusion that it would cause for other users and the opportunity that it creates for less scrupulous members to benefit from that confusion.  Yes, there are some exceptions to the rule, but "I keep forgetting the ID I set up" isn't one of them.

I just thought I'd post here, firstly to thank @ttony for his help and understanding.

I never intended to be underhand or to cause any problems. I wrongly thought that if I created a new ID with a different email (not just a different ID with the same email, I'd be ok. I now know that wasn't the way to go.

Having exchanged some emails with TTony I have apologised and I do understand why he took the action he did.

Lesson has been well learnt and I'm glad to be allowed back.

I thought I'd post this as I'd been thinking about a name change and clearly having found this thread would cause incredible amounts of hassle, so I am putting it out there as a discussion point, not to cause hell to open. :-)

So today the Teye after 7months of trying to sell finally goes...I feel a little sorry for myself about losing it, but hey ho, finances must. The net result though is: I am no longer a Teye player, I will be a 'former Teye player'. Meaning my name and image thingee are just misleading.

I therefore wondered about a name change, not quite sure what I'd change it to, but probably some variation of my name (which is Jay by the way) so potentially I'm being less misleading and more honest if there was a name change? Is a name change a waste of time or more accurate?
I don't know, what do you reckon guys?

Bad idea. I want to know who I am interacting with. Name changes would be a nightmare in the Classifieds if bad experiences couldn't be identified properly.
