There's a horror film called 'Inhuman Resources' which sums up my experience of HR.

The 'H' bit stands for Human, the 'R' bit is Resources, but it is interesting to check up what the word 'Resources' actually mean. Something to be exploited.  When combined with Human, exploitation of the workforce.

    Says it all really.

So, I'm getting that there's not a lot of love for the HR department.

I have two basic problems with our HR:
    - overblown sense of their own importance. I put this down to these being head office jobs so they eat their sandwiches with and stand next to the urinal with senior managers and therefore have come to believe they are more than the lackeys they actually are.
    - they expect me to intimately understand the contents of HR manuals whilst having no expectation that they should understand our day jobs. No, I didn't know that I should have looked at the Managing Sickness Absence Policy Appendix C, I wouldn't have called HR for advice if I knew that.

Actually, now I've written it down that's two sides of one issue. The Humourless Rimjobs.
