    Feta with salad.

My stomach won't allow me to enjoy the extra stinky cheeses anymore ( which I used to love with crackers or hot crusty bread) so I use Philadelphia instead. Those Hovis biscuits or Digestive are nomz too.

strong cheddar I normally go for, can't stand blue cheese, but wish I did. Parmesan for pasta dishes, I like mozzarella in a salad or with cold meats. Smoked cheddar (or anything smoked-fish, bacon, salad etc is always better) is the dogs balls.

I'll be a total heathen and go for the non-cheese that is "mexicana". It's wrong but really yummy. Cracker and pickle.

If I have to pick something that's actually a cheese I'll pick halloumi. Grilled. On a camp fire. With a bit of ashy mud where you dropped it.

Extra Mature Cheddar is the best. American Cheese is the worst.

I love all cheese but a good strong cheddar is hard to beat, godminster or black bomber being great example.

Also 2nd @sporky 's suggestion of halloumi, we had a gousto recipe that sounds very similar and it was lush, basically haloumi fried in ras-el-hanout with couscous mixed with pomegranate molasses and mint...didnt have the soured cream but can imagine it works well.

Decent italian pecorino and fresh buffalo mozzarella take some beating. You haven't had mozzarella tis you've had the proper stuff in Rome. Nothing like anything you'll ever get anywhere else and absolutely spectacular.

Bloody hell ,you're going back a bit ...........Chez Nico was 1970s/80s -he was the first petulant chef ......that made such behaviour fashionable..............threw out any customer that asked for salt or pepper and regularly came striding from the kitchen to argue and evict any diner who had the slightest complaint...........he was an outstanding chef ,bettered at the time only by Anton Mossiman .

Shropshire Blue, Dolce Latte, any Farmhouse style cheddar, Feta, Halloumi, Brie, Bavarian Brie, all Dutch cheeses, that hard Polish cheese, White Stilton, Cheshire.... there's not much I don't like. It's why I'm a stone and a half overweight.

Reminds me of the cheese jokes from a few years ago; what cheese do you use to hide a small horse? Mascarpone....

I once had a meal at a pub in Stilton and each course contained Stilton cheese.  Can't think of a cheese I don't like, I really like goats cheese even.
