Having finished the last lengthy project, I'm feeling about ready to start the next one.

It's a bit of a cheat, because I'll just be doing the finishing and assembly - all the hard work has already been done.

I was really impressed with the easy and quality of the Crimson stain and EZE Oil finish on the last one, so I'm going to do the same again.  But should it be the same washed denim finish (which is really tempting me) or should I try something different?

Bridge & tailpiece are chrome.  P'ups are either a HFS/VB zebra set, or some chrome covered Gibson PAFs - probably the latter.

    This is the guitar ...

    ... though it comes with a slight catch;

    The slight catch is the reason that I have it.  Do I just ignore it and accept it as a feature of the top, or try to camoflague it in some way?

    Looks like a perfect candidate for a dark burst to me

    Do the opposite of the dark burst (sure I'll work it out in the minute) so that the 'flaw' is spotlighted in a corona - flaunt the imperfection and all that. looks awesome either way

    Green and keep the "imperfection", it's a natural thing.......

    Green is good with chrome......

    Black/royal blue burst. Or yellow/purple if you plan to start a thread on the PRS forum saying how much better your guitar is cos its made in England, a better country than the USA and even too good for the EU.

    Mrs TT is a fan of green.  And you're right, it looks good with chrome.

    Black/royal blue burst.
    My first thought was black around the edges, with a washed denim middle.  I probably need to try that out on some scrappy first.

    Orange. That flame is crying out for it. It's my favourite colour too  =)

    I'm voting for green or possibly the royal blue.

    Do it the burst of your choice then fit an armrest to cover the knot ;)

    There aren't enough green guitars in the world.

    I'm going to try Washed Denim over Amber.

    I'm going to try it on some scrap first.

    My thinking is that it might emulate something like this (albeit with different colours, obviously!)

    I don't know why, but to me that maple top just seems to be calling out for pale blue - i.e. washed denim.

    I think I might just live with the flaw rather than try to hide it under an ugly too-dark burst.

    My only reservation about that @Philly_Q is whether a man can have too many washed denim, flamed maple, twin HB guitars ...

    Or perhaps I should just go with what I know I like ...

    Colours:  so difficult!!

    I was thinking you already had that guitar.... shows what a good colour it is, though. :)

    First coat was a bit wishy washy - very faded denim;

    [that would look a lot better if I'd managed to upload the photo into this new editor, bah]

    But, after a couple more coats ...
    ... it's looking quite tasty.

    That's with the stain still "wet" on the body.  With it dried this morning, it looks a little less interesting, but I'm hoping the oil top coat will re-energise the colour.
