Sorry... How much do you get for a badger cull? I have a lot of spare time lately...

Tarmac your garden and paint it to look like a dual carriageway.  Wait until the morning and there will be badger pancakes all over the place.

    Remove squished badgers.

Dig up tarmac and return garden to normal.

    Easy peasy.

Contact the Badger Trust for advice: http://www.badgergroup.org.uk/garden.pdf
If you do that you will probably never be able to get rid of them.

At this stage I would guess your garden has a nice food source (assuming they haven't dug a set). Remove the food source and they might just move on. Remember Badgers have powerful claws so putting a pretty fence rouind your veg patch is a waste of time, go big time or leave them alone.

Are they like foxes where if you wee all over your garden then they'll stay away from your scent as you're clearly more of an alpha male?
Actually, as the badger is the UK's largest carnivore you may need to up the ante and poo all over your garden - not sure if that's preferable to having badgers though.

My boss told me "dress for the job you want, not the job you have"... now I'm sat in a disciplinary meeting dressed as Batman.

Especially as they mostly eat worms and slugs - they're not here for the cabbages.

You could make friends with them. They'll keep the hedgehogs away.

Yes but they will pull all the soil away from your nicely composted veg plot where the worms and slugs also love to be. Instant mess. I have problems with moles on the same basis, they live under my muck/compost/leaf mould piles and feed in the raised beds which are full of worms too. Had to redig one raised bed which was like swiss cheese with mole runs throughout.

Hedgehogs on the other hand will eat slugs and snails without causing collateral damage to the crop, and they taste nice apparantly!

    The crisps were OK.

Slugs taste nice too, but only if you eat four or five in one mouthful.
