You have to differentiate between issues in front of and behind the eardrum.

You can get at the former with eardrops and syringing.

If it's behind the eardrum then you are limited - the main choices outlined to me were nose drops or an operation to fir a grommet and drain the eustachian tube. Nothing's going to help if it's introduced down your earhole.

I've used hydrogen peroxide (3% i think), to clear wax.
its an odd sensation - fizzes and tickles the ear.

I'm not sure Popeye's iron content - even with all that spinach - was high enough for rust to be a serious risk.

I was the other way around. Was morbidly fascinated by the ear one, but slimy snot related things turn my stomach. Should've known better than to watch it really.

I tilt my head to the side, so the blocked ear is facing the ground, and keeping my head in that position, jump a few times. Sounds crazy (and lookr crazy), but when you land, the inertia should help dislodge the water. Definitely no cotton buds.
