Terrible day at work today.

What's Hot

I love driving round the country, seeing all my dealers, getting to meet some great people. Imagine my disappointment when I get called into the office for some training. On Helix too. I've spent all day playing with it. They also had me doing extensive testing and a/bing against all this lot...

Do yourself a favour, if ever a job comes up at Yamaha, don't bother. You'll be forced into days like today.

I play guitar and take photos of stuff. I also like beans on toast.

Sometimes, there's just not enough money to compensate for the jobs we have to do.

Well, the job that *you* have to do ...
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

Not strictly true. The amp on the far left. Thats mine. Original 69 Superbass. Much prefer them to the Superleads.

Innit. On top of everything else, I've had to bring a Helix home on long term loan. I might go back to being a milkman.

Christ, I don't know why you bother turning up to work. I'll stick to my much more exciting desk job, and you can stick your helix and awesome amps up your bum!

Typical, you turn up to Plaster a Wall and some Bastard's left a load of Guitars and Amps to shift out the way. I hope you complained.

In case anyone is curious about the amps. Heres the list. Couple were mine and the rest belong to Martin who is our guitar product manager.

    Mesa Lonestar Classic 212- mine
    Marshall 1969 Superbass - mine
    Marshall 1968 Superlead
    Marshall 1967 JTM45
Park something or other. Not sure what year or what model Seems to be a transition model and can't quite figure it out. Needless to say, it's like rocking horse shit!
    Vox 1964 AC30
    Marshall 1960 something 412.

Various pedals were also used including a late 70's phase 45 and dyna comp, a Klon and my completely inappropriate pedal board full of overpriced goodness.

It was an emotional day. Good job I'm going on holiday tomorrow to get over it.

  • That rivals some of my worst days at work ever! ;)

I had a really bad day a week or two ago meself, had to spend a bit of time with Lena Heady in a very not media related capacity. And I was unprofessional enough to ask her to do the "I choose violence" line. Despite being incredibly jet-lagged, she was sporting enough to agree, and it was way more chilling in person than on TV!

I went for an interview with Blackstar once and they made me play through all their pedals and amps as part of the interview!
Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

I think I've decide to boycott  yamaha products.  Seeing how they treat their staff so shabbily. Stay strong.

You should join a Trade Union.  They would insist that at least three others were there to assist you in this chore.
