I was led to believe the switch was changed latterly to one which doesn't cause a click when switching on/off, but perhaps I'm wrong?

I think they've always been soft switches on the Flint. I've been contemplating selling mine with a favourite switch but can't quite bring myself to do it as it is just a great combo of effects.

  • I believe the El Cap and Blue Sky did have 2 versions where the newer version had the switches replaced with soft switches. The Flint was brought out at the same time as the v2 El Cap and Blue Sky meaning it has only ever had soft switches :)
Check out my feedback thread here, would really appreciate it if you could leave a quick line if you've bought from me. :)

£175 is an optimistic price for these - good luck!

    Oh, I don't know.

Previous ones have been sold on here at that price and as we can see from the link, shops are selling at £25 more with free shipping.

I'm sure if you hold out you might find one for 175, but the going rate is around £200 S/h. I just sold mine for that. And it was gone almost as soon as I listed it.

Thanks for the input. I guess we'll see.

Honestly though, this pedal is £244 brand new, box fresh, with its warranty, delivered free from a reputable retailer, so I think £175 is a fair offer price secondhand. I don't see why people would pay 4/5ths (or more) of the new price for a secondhand one, even if it is 'mint'.

As a general rule (unless something is mega rare or vintage) I won't pay more than 3/4 new price and usually aim for 2/3rd of new price, but perhaps that's just me (?)

  • Thats true but these Strymon pedals seem to hold their value at around 80%. It's just the brand with the hot used pedals at the moment I guess!

What I would say is that on this forum, compared to some of the awful facebook groups, I am far more prepared to think about discounts under what I believe to be the 'market' price as there seems to be a genuine sense of community -  discounts are reciprocated with a mutual understanding of the perils of GAS - so you never know, someone might be so inclined. But for now I'm afraid I'm holding on to mine. :-)

80% sounds better than 4/5ths - I must go metric sometime soon :)

Pedals are difficult to value for the medium to long term. An £80 new pedal might be worth £500 in 20 years if it makes a name for itself, or £25 if it doesn't.

Who knows where Strymons will go?...

The Strymon prices vary a lot........out of the single enclosure pedals it appears only the Flint and the El Cap hold their values despite the market. Blue Sky , Deco et al are a more negotiable and then you have the Big Sky and the TL which are in a league of their own of S/H value.

I think the Flint's unique character and reverbs (especially) make the pedal so sought after.

Mine isn't going anywhere....but never say never.

Oh I do have a Favourite Switch for when you get your's............... ;)

Yes, it's a strange thing. Like playing the stock market :)

It's always nice to find a pedal you've got has become a valuable classic, but I don't think most of us worry about that when we're actually buying.
