I'm not keen on solid colours in general, even less so on pegheads.

I like matching headstocks a lot, but (usually) only if the fretboard is rosewood.

And ideally they should be on '60s style models, not so much on modern ones.  Which I think accords with @guitars4you's comment about them looking at home on a Jag or JM.

There are 'rules' about these things:

    1. NEVER on a Tele

    2. Only on Strats with Rosewood boards

    3. Only with vintage style split-post tuners, (one) butterfly string-tree and truss rod adjustment at the heel

Please stick to them in future.

    Thanks.

I don't mind matching as long as 'Bontempi' red isn't involved

I have a strat with matching headstock I think matching headstock and body colour is OK might depend on the colour though. Here it is a very old picture but the only one handy.
Looks like a country and western band
Nah, one of them has a trumpet.

Rarely looks right on a Strat or Tele to me, but works better on a Jazzmaster or Jaguar for some reason. However, I've seen so many overpriced CAR MIJ Offsets with matching headstocks for sale I'm going off the idea altogether.

I think it looks OK on a fancy boy Strat but not on a Tele which rightly or wrongly I consider a more workmanlike instrument.

I do like the planet T shirt on Freddie though. His News of the world "Freddie Starr" must've been in the wash.

Heavily colour dependent for me. Surf/seafoam green and daphne blue work fine on Strats or Teles. Sonic blue, CAR, and sherwood green I'm not at all keen on...
Don't ask me, I just play the damned thing...
