I nearly bought one of these Japanese Fender limited edition Tele's when they came out - the tortoiseshell pickguard killed it for me - should have been black! 




Now, isn't this classier!


Or this - but NOT tortoiseshell - yuk!



I also liked it in White - oddly enough, the tortoiseshell blended in more with that - but I'd still prefer plain white or anodised gold with that one:

That mirror guard with black headstock looks brilliant! I've never liked Tort. guards, I have no idea how they even became "a thing", they're just horrible and (to me) they just don't seem to work on any guitar of any colour.

I put a matte black single ply one on my project Tele (the body is orange) and it's really nice. Much tidier looking than a gloss one. Think it's a Vanson one... I'll need to check.
