What's Hot

So, I live very, VERY close to a small guitar shop. Like, dangerously close for my bank balance.

The crew are incredibly friendly, welcoming and always make me feel like it's cool to just pop in, sample the merchandise, hang around for ages, talk bollocks.

On another note, the only 60s Fender I would ever be realistically interested in owning is a mid-60s Mustang, preferably in dakota red, as original as possible.

Guess what they got in today?

Not mint, but original finish. Still with the case and vibrato arm, which never happens normally.

Once it had strings on, it was just perfect. The sound was wonderfully balanced at all pickup positions, the vibrato was excellent and held tuning without a problem. The neck is chunky but very comfortable.

There isn't a chance in hell I can afford this anytime soon. But one day, Billy, one day you will own one of these.

I feel your pain - I've keep looking at the refinished one @lamf68 put together, but not a hope in hell at the moment...

Sell everything you can possibly think of that you don't need and buy it. A good one of these is a great guitar, and probably the last affordable 60s Fender that doesn't have an awkwardly short scale or skinny neck. Or take out a loan or something.

I seriously regret selling my '66 one, which was exactly like that, also with the arm and case.

  • In that picture it does seem to be on possession of an awkwardly large headstock, but other than that, lovely.

Glad I don't live near such an establishment.

As above - sell stuff, get it.

You'll only regret it if you don't - and you can always sell it if you do

The '66 and later ones do have the full-CBS headstock size, yes.

    Wow! Find a way!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

Yes, it sounds high to me too, even in that condition and with the case. Not insanely so, and you may be able to negotiate a bit, but around £1500 would be much better.

I sold mine for £650 about fifteen years ago :(.
