HarrySeven - Intangible Asset Appraiser & Wrecker of Civilisation. Searching for weird guitars - so you don't have to.
Forum feedback thread. | G&B interview #1 & #2 | https://www.instagram.com/_harry_seven_/
Hi. Just joined up, as one of my readers put me onto this.
It is indeed an early Odyssey Guitar - Not many on this side of the pond.
Would be great if you could put up some more detailed photos.
Look forward to seeing them.
Cheers.
"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski
"Only two things are infinite - the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein
I sold mine for just under £1000, and I believe that after passing through a few dealers hands it went back to Canada.
Thats the second one I've owned - sadly I have no pics of the other one, but that was much higher spec model but still featured the multi-laminate through neck construction, brass *everything* and DiMarzio pickups.
These are incredibly high quality instruments - and some of the design elements Paul Reed Smith admits 'borrowing' on his early guitars. There are a lot of Alembic elements too - with some superb woods. Sadly Atilla died in a workshop accident before his guitars really got the recognition they deserve.
I'd be interested in seeing some more pics - and potentially having a conversation about buying it, if you are looking to sell.
EDIT: Did your father in law buy it in Kentish Town in around 2000?
I bought a Peavey T40 because of your blog. I'm no bass player, but it's incredible.
If so, that is a *monster* and I've never forgiven him for selling it :-)
Pete - He da man!!
It sure is the very same one!! Sounds like you have played it. . . . I have a lot of basses but the Odysseys are THE most gigged by a long way!
Awesome Monster, for sure!
A couple of years back, I relieved him of his Genz Benz rig - plug the Odyssey into that Genz - you have got everything you need.
On a separate note, I put up a post with a lot more Odyssey info - Twice.
I thought it had just gone the first time, so I did it again and a little window popped up "waiting for approval" or something.
Being the new boy here. . . what happens next?
There would be some good info for the OP.
Cheers.
Not heard from you for a while - are you able to post up some more shots?
Hope so.
Cheers.
Ooooo! The irony
The Very First instrument I featured, was my precious Odyssey Bass!!
The very next one was. . . . . A T-40!!

The guitar on the OP, is the same era as my bass - 1977 ish, is as close as I can date it, from my dealings with Ken Lindemere - They were referred to as Attila Guitars and Basses.
See here for some intersting stuff:

Ken still puts out Canadian Quality!

I'll try again - typed out a post and it vanished!
So, this is what I said.
My very first post was on my precious Odyssey Bass - as above and the second post was about a T-40!!

Mine dates from 1977 ish, which is as close as I can get from what Ken Lindemere said.
The date of the guitar on the OP, is going to be very close to that - they were then called Attila Guitars and Basses.
