JM build | Pedalboard plans
How would you describe the difference between the stock pickups and the Mules?
JM build | Pedalboard plans
Mine has the stock pots, which are 500k from what I remember (Ill check later) and wired like a les paul. Its possible a previous owner changed them, but I don't think its a normal SG2000. Its from 1976 and the serial number format matches an SG-175. It also has fret edge binding, which is weird, and the ebony fret board has a slightly different texture to the other SG2000s I've owned. The finish is a bit lighter too, and the back of the headstock seems unfinished compared to the rest of the guitar.
I assume its a sort of transitional version between the 175 and the normal 2000s.
The mules provide a clearer, more balanced sound than the stock pickups and are slightly lower output from what I remember. Just a massive upgrade for the stuff I play, I haven't even considered putting the stock ones back in. They've accentuated the mids a bit more too.
They're in my avatar....
