It's happy coincidence, I was intending to go solid colour and hoped the paint would sink into the grain, but after a few light coats of White, the clear lacquer came out to seal what appeared, my only regret is that it's very white and I would have preferred it a bit creamier, but as it is I'm over the moon………..pickups 3/9 days so that will give the paint a good chance to harden…..oh and Tru Oil the neck, c'mon postie!

I've got - literally - a stack of Ash (presume that body is Ash?) planks that are roughly thicknessed and waiting for me to joint them and turn them into guitar body shaped pieces.

Having seen how yours has turned out, I might have to visit a "Halfords" store to grab a can or two of that 2% paint stuff and give it a go sometime through the summer.

Yes this stumped me too, so I "commissioned" a design from my 2 kids (15 & 20) who both have interests in graphic design, should be an easy £20 for one of them ;-)

agree with all others so far, that grain through the paint is fantastic. good job!, however i would swap out the plate for a pure white one. (but then again i love white strats!)

Must admit I have also considered swapping out the scratchplate for a white on, the original idea was for a much creamier colour but got it whiter than intended.....

You can Shaun, theres shed loads of tutorial on youtube, biggest mistakes are cheap paint and trying to coat the work in one go and getting runs....

Nearly there, assembled wired (what a disaster that was, but sorted now, I think I have a defective bridge pickup) Duncan rail temp at the bridge, need to intonate and source a string tree, Sultans pickups are the sound I wanted in my head......wired to a 3 way, neck, neck and middle and bridge, thats the way I like it.....

Tele knobs are temporary and I also have White scratchplate on the way to try with black pickup covers....Harry the Bastard looks impressed at being used as a Strat rest!.....

Bit of an issue with the bridge pickup, so that will be returned to Bare Knuckle as agreed tomorrow, to see whats up.....when it comes back I have a White Black White Scratchplate to try with black pickup covers switch tip and knobs to see if I prefer it.....it plays and sounds very nice indeed, just how I hoped it would, hopefully a fully functioning bridge pickup will be the icing...oh and a string tree when postie gets his finger out.....

Its done! Scratchplate swapped out for White, pickup covers/switch tip swapped for black and an Artec rail in black temporarily at the bridge, Tele Custom/Fender Amp knobs in black replace Tele style chromes…….postie just delivered the string tree as I type….Photos!
