Seems i keep posting these Captain meets vid lately, but in case any of you are interested and wouldn't naturally look, the latest one is with Neville Martin. For anyone like me who took Guitarist Magazine as their pre-Internet guitar information source, the mans a bit of a legend. Loved this interview, he comes across really well.
What really struck me is that, of all the guitars that must have passed through his hands over the years, and he's had various vintage guitars too, the two he brings along to enthuse about are his two most recent aquisitions - GAS gets us all.

Met him a long time ago and he was a nice fella- intelligent articulate and good musician who has always worked hard to get the guitar out there

The other thing is, he always seems to get a good tone - regardless of the guitar he's playing.
Does anyone kniw know how old he is? I'm assuming from his references to the 60s that he's at least 10 years older than me - which means he's 62+. He looks very good on it.
So is this guy:

They have already invented a pickguard with edges that are impervious to 59 years of Nicotine Abuse, never mind the wear and tear.

^^ Yep I was thinking exactly the same!!
I was a bit shocked to hear he'd gone over to the dark side to! Neville Marten with a Helix? Who'd have thunk it eh ?
I play guitar and take photos of stuff. I also like beans on toast.
I've always liked Neville Martin.
NM edited Guitarist when I read it. IIRC he skilfully walked the line between paying due respect to the established guitar gods while keeping up with latest bands and trends. This at a time when letters pages often had old timers moaning about shredders, or 'widdlers' as they were briefly and scornfully referred to at the time.
Above all, the quality of the writing was really strong: clear and informative.
I've seen the first bit of this and will watch the rest later. I suppose NM is largely (along with my sometimes varied taste in music) responsible for my interest in lots of different kinds of guitars. I do remember a feature he ran called 'Oldies but Goodies' which to a Jackson Soloist obsessed lad like me did give me more insight into the 'Golden Era' and similar guitars.
