I'm sure we have all let go of guitars that we shouldn't have done or regret for whatever reason, so how about a thread either here or in the Classifieds to reunite owners with their beloveds once more? I have owned hundreds of guitar and to be honest there are only a couple of regrets in there.
When I divorced my first wife I had a ridiculous amount of guitars, one of the reasons was I used them to harbour money in the hope that this would be overlooked in divorce proceedings....and here's a tip guys cos it worked a treat. Her solicitor tried to include them but the judge and my solicitor threw it out. I'd like to thank Vince Cunetto for his marvellous Relic invention because my supposed Custom Shop relic guitars were actually mostly expensive vintage guitars. However amongst the throng that I disposed of afterwards to buy a house having given the last one away was a lovely 2002 Fender Custom Shop 50's Esquire that was super resonant and lightweight. I bought it from the guy who ran the Guitars of Canada Guitar Forum.
So if anyone out there has a blackguard NOS Fender Custom Shop Esquire Serial number CN95426 born 06/20/02 then I would love to give you a lump of cash for it!

There are probably shed loads, but the one I always think of was a bolt-on, Orpeum SG that was the best I ever played. Stupidly bought a Gibson and let it go before realising it was nowhere near as good.. Think I bought it for £65 and sold it for about the same. Dumb dumb dumb.

    No photo or serial number.

I sold an old late 60's / early 70's Suzuki dreadnought acoustic to Sheehans music in Leicester, in late 1991.
It had a pronounced V profile neck, traditional acoustic colours and Suzuki written on the headstock.

Sheehans hadn't seen one for years so it would have been the only one they had around that time.
I wish i could get that one back more than any other.

2003 SG Special. Faded brown with dots and ebony board. I sold it on eBay in early 2006, at which point it had graph tech saddles and a hiscox case, possibly grover machineheads as well.

No idea of the serial number but I'd have it back in a shot.

Black SG Classic I traded for a Les Paul. I love the Les Paul, but that SG was beautiful sounding and playing guitar.

  • I regret selling my Laney AOR30. Partly as I was down-sizing and decided to keep my Marshall 8080 which stopped working three months later. Partly as the money I got for it at the time went on a four-speed CD-ROM writer.

Not a guitar, but 2 pedals...

1.) A very rare bronze/copper Catalinbread Echorec; would love to own it again !!

2.) PTD Mini Bone - this one heavily naturally reliced.

Anyone out there got these and want to sell them ?!?

I stupidly traded the only P bass I ever loved. I love the stringray I have now, and I'd never let it go (and it's modded. A lot)

If I had the money I'd have the P back in a heartbeat.

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

  • I had a Raygun Relics SG Jr that I stupidly sold to buy a Gibson because
     more expensive+name=better.

I regretted it almost straight away. The Gibson IS probably "better" but doesn't have that something that makes me grin like an idiot while I'm playing.

Thankfully this story has a happy ending. Whilst going through an old phone I happened to find a text arranging the sale. I took a punt & called them. The Raygun is now back in my room & the Gibson is currently up for sale- it just doesn't get played anymore.

Ironically I'm tempted to use the proceeds of the Gibson to buy another great guitar that I parted with & later realised how much it suited me.

Anyone have a Squier Trohman telecaster they'd sell me?

My MUm sold Mercedes Benz reg no 101 LJ, a 1961 190SL Sportster in white with red leather, for £800 in  1972.

I am happy to buy it back - same price naturally.

Two that spring to mind are the gorgeous 80's cherry Red MIJ Epiphone Casino that I had back in the 90's that I swapped for a Yamaha SY85 synth, and the DeArmond S73-12 electric 12-string that I sold about 5 years ago.

the Epi was delightful and so versatile and the DeArmond with the 2K pickups sounded incredible and had a wonderfully comfy neck.

Kind of regret selling my Pearl LP some times. Each time I think about it though I remember how heavy it was and that the neck was a bit too thick for me. It just looked so cool and sounded awesome.

    None.

I only sell stuff I don't want any more, and I'm sure if a few people got back their "regret" sales they would soon remember why they got rid of them in the first place.

Rose tinted glasses and all that..... ;)

I had a very lightweight (5.5lbs) PRS KL1812 that I really loved. Traded it to Jeff @ World Guitars towards something I love even more, but of all the guitars I ever moved on that's the only one that induces a pang of regret...
