The really strong accents seem to be dying out. There used to be some really strong accents in North Devon up towards Exmoor. Some of those I would struggle to understand, and I grew up 15 miles away. The younger generation don't have nearly such strong accents though.

I'm in Southampton, it doesn't get much more south than that except the Isle of Wight!

If you look at a map, the Lizard in Cornwall looks quite a lot further South.

Southampton has very little going for it. Please don't take our southiness away from us.
