Any good alternatives for a cheap or mid priced LP Jr? The only one that really stands out is the Vintage one and the colours aren't that inspiring.

I've had a couple of 2015 jrs that I picked up cheap because of the wide neck, brass nut , robotuners and large headstock signature.

Enjoyed them both,  no issues at all and would get one again

I've never even seen one in person, but I'd wager the Probett Rocket is among the very best of those in the middle ground between G & F styles too.

For my F-style itch, I'm currently really enjoying my St Blues Blindsider. Kinda like the bastard lovechild of an HSS Strat and a Tele. Lovely neck, and the Lollar pickups are ace...

Like a few of us on here, my continued lust for the next forever guitar means I am continually selling my previous forever guitar. I've noticed recently though that I've started buying guitars that I've had before , I'm starting to finally realise what I like and am putting together a collection rather than guitars to try then move on.

Since I sold my PRS custom 24 about 10 years back it's been mainly Teles, Strats and Les Pauls really with the odd SG, Gretsch and PRS thrown in as a bit of a sorbet to clean the pallete before the next Tele comes along.

I've come to realise that of the 'big 3' designs I tend to favour guitars from other brands despite enjoying many a Fender and Gibson over the years.

    Curently for me it's

    Strat - K Line Springfield
    Tele - K Line Truxton
    LP - Feline Lion

I wanted to pick some brains here to see if there were any non Fender Strat and Teles and non Gibson LPs I should be trying before I settle down with the current trio. I've had Suhrs, Orvilles and Tokais for example but never tried a Nash Tele or a Maybach LP but heard good things ?

Can I ask (please) - of the big 3 designs , who do you tend to prefer ?
Have you thougt that you might never be happy

It's a good question but I am at my happiest when sitting there playing something and then thinking, hmmmmm how would that sound on 'that' guitar.  I'm really into 'the sound' of a guitar if that makes sense and how sounds differ across various instruments.
For instance, the talk yesterday on here of the Chris Isaak song , Wicked Game got me all excited to get home and play it on my guitar. I started off playing it on my Feline, then my Gretsch, then a strat... I finally picked up my wife's Martin acoustic and realised it sounded lovely on there in the conservatory of our house - lovely echoing notes.   I was very chilled and as happy as a pig in shit and that feeling is exactly why I play the guitar.

It also means I'm always looking for something different to try but that search also keeps me happy, I get to meet some great people on here, something new and exciting is always around the corner too :-)

I had an old Tokai Les Paul Reborn for a while and selling it is probably my biggest gear-related regret. It was the best sounding and playing LP I ever had. Basically, Edwards and Tokai would pretty much cover it for me. That said, I do like the look of those Feline Lions...

    Strat type would be Suhr.

I've never played a non Gibson, Gibson style guitar.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

  • Suhr for strat. PRS for singlecut (not quite Gibson though).

    My current favourite "non-Gibsons"

Reverend Spacehawk - 335 sized semi hollow, but very comfortable due to the strat-like body contour. Great range of tones thanks to the bass contour and out-of-phase switch:
