Cheese with bits of fruit in. Just why?

Every time I look in the reduced section at a supermarket, the fridge is piled high with this muck. Wensleydale with cranberries, white Stilton with apricots, Gorgonzola with passion fruit and preserved gooseberries, whatever. When will they actually realise that no-one buys the stuff, because it's (a) disgusting, and (b) a violation of the natural order of things, and stop wasting good milk on it?

It's quite nice but in very small quantities. I prefer a decent traditional cheese like Stilton or Cheshire.

I'm with you. It's right up there with making a perfect dessert and then ruining it by sprinkling bits of wood on top.

Vile practice, both should be illegal and when I take over the world, people that pollute cheese with bits or puddings with nuts will be the first against the wall.

Give me a nice, pure, extra mature blue any day.

but it clearly doesn't sell in enough quantity, hence the piles of it left over. I've not even tried it at someone else's buffet, let alone been tempted to buy it. That's because like a lot of other people (maybe even a majority) I think it's disgusting.

It's becoming fairly clear that there are people here who have taste, and people who think putting bits in cheese is an acceptable practice.

I think perhaps for the good of the species, these deviants should be put in a sub section where they cannot corrupt the rest of us decent folk.

Whenever I go to exhibitions at the NEC there is invariably a cheese stand ( the Cheshire Cheese company I think?) almost regardless of the exhibition with tiny little samples of fruited cheese on the counter that people have ( potentially) sneezed on. Makes me feel sick.
And, yes, it’s an oddly common feature of the whoops section in the supermarket.
Not for me.
