Hi - my name is Pete. I'm 56 and live in Leeds.
I have played guitar since I was about 15. I've gigged plenty and been in some pretty decent bands. Over the years I got into electronics and have built an awful lot (or a lot of awful !) pedals , amps, outboard gear and even my own valve mics.
I have a home studio full of mainly DIY valve gear , and a nice set up based around a Mac with Logic Pro.
I am semi retiring this year , and have been reading up for the past 3-4 years on guitar making and getting my woodwork chops together. My aim is to build a few guitars each year and a few really nice amps to go with them. Eventually I want to be able to offer a bespoke amp and guitar combination.
I will be restricting myself to the simple Classics - Marshall and Park inspired amps , and Gibbo Juniors , and Teles.
I've learnt tons just reading some of the builders posts in the excellent Making & Modding section here.
I'm keen to meet up with anyone in the North that is interested in classic amps and classic guitars.
Great Forum, glad I found it.

Q3. As an old geezer I abandoned musical ambitions some time ago, though I recently bought a pedal steel and would one day love to become half decent on that
Q4. I have in the past had a few star items, but I had a decades-long phase when I wasn’t playing much, and they were all sold. I now have ten guitars and four amps, but mostly budget or rescue items. My cheapest guitar cost £4.36 (only about four years ago . . ).
I spend most of my musical time writing songs and recording them in Logic Pro. I only play guitar, but I do have a Roland guitar synth, so that helps me with the other instrumental parts. I don’t do any of it very well, but I reckon some of my songs are better than my voice, if you know what I mean.
I have always been in love with the studio recording session, and should have taken a different route when I was a student, jamming with some real musicians - even had a night with Mick Taylor when he was playing with the Stones, and Smile (forerunner of Queen) were our college band.

Well my mince pies aren't as good as they once were. I lost the little finger on my left hand when I was 20. And Willy fitted with the other 2 parts better than my Christian name.

Q. 3
I had a couple of guitars as a kid was never very good and then at 20 lost little finger on my left hand. Didn't touch a guitar for 35 years, gave up smoking a couple of years ago and treated myself to a guitar to see if 3 fingers would be enough to play Bo Diddley. Now my ambition is learn as much as I can.

I've actually been a member for a little while but not very active. The forum here is good and far less bitchy than many others! I will be selling a few bits and pieces in the UK next year, so will probably become a bit more active here.
I am 40 and English, but currently living in Argentina. Before that I was most recently in Cardiff then Bristol. My family are from the Brighton area and Devon. I get back to visit fairly regularly.
I listen to rock mostly.... Beatles, Nirvana and all the other grungy bands, Veruca Salt, Toadies, The Hives, McLusky (look them up! The first album is amazing), etc... you get the idea.
I play in a cover band. Guitar and backing vocals. Nothing huge but we have fun and lots people come to see us play so I guess we can't be too bad! We're getting into writing our own material which is great.
My main guitar is a now very modded Divill B100, but with a good Firebird pickup in the bridge and the neck P90 removed. I am actually partway through building a couple of solidbodies. Will try to remember to post pics when they're done. I have some nice looking Fletcher pickups on the way which I'm looking forward to.
My amp is an Ampmaker P1800 which I love. Kind of a more modern, slightly hotrodded 1974X circuit. Played through a homemade oversized 1x12 with a Fane F70 speaker.
I am not really into pedals, but have a handful I built from Fuzzdog kits. The SHO clone is the one I use the most. I have a couple of other nice pedals which I don't use much (just the clean boost seems too much at times. Straight into the amp is fun!). The best of these bought pedals is probably a PedalPAL JCM Emulator, which I bought in the US. It sounds great but simplicity rules so it doesn't get much use.
Looking at the list of gear, you'll see that I mostly buy/sell gear in the UK despite living abroad.
In the next few months I will be starting part-time work with a mate who makes high-end Flamenco guitars. Looking forward to learning lots of new stuff (and getting use of his workshop for my electrics).
Also starting singing lessons soon. Not quite sure what to expect but it can't get worse!
I am rambling so will stop!!
Cheers!
