IMHO the only solo instrument worth listening to for any length of time is a piano. It does not get much better than an hour or two listening to Chopin or Beethoven.

I have a big handful of licks that I lifted from that tune 25 years ago which I still use now.
Other than that, Surfing With The Alien for me, Satriani has a good knack for writing pop hooks into instrumentals that makes them very listenable.
