I feel a plan coming together.
My new funk band have done one festival gig from which we've picked up a few functions in February and March.
However we haven't gigged with our new PA and in ears setup so we're thinking about renting a village hall etc and doing a free friends and family gig.
It occurs to me that we could combine this with a mini East Anglian Gear Fest.
It would go something like:
A load of us show up and nerd out about gear.
My band rock up and set up our PA.
Anyone who wants to can have a jam with my rhythm section (they are very good) and rock out a bit.
A load of other peeps show up and my band play a set.
That appealing to anyone and if so how are you set for the end of Jan start of Feb?

And a funk gig is always good. Probably a chance for me to steal some of your tricks, @monquixote.

Where's Stowe, I'm assuming it isn't the one in Bucks .... ?

Just off the A14.
Also has a rail station on the London <> Norwich, Ipswich <> Cambridge and Ipswich <> Peterborough lines.

Best time to tackle the A14 on a Saturday is between 6 and 8 am. Plenty of places to eat and hang around in Stowmarket. Arrive around 10am, have breakfast and a mooch about and after lunch, head to the venue.
@Jalepeno I can fit an alarming amount of kit in my car plus a front seat passenger if you want to split the cost of fuel ?
