    Exactly. That's why it's perfect...

Me too. The only way I could get one is if I sold my Rick, and that's never happening so I will just have to dream…

I should be getting my hacked-up Chinese Gretsch Duo-Jet back, so that will have to do.

I could quite happily get a 330 or elitist casino if I parted with my Jaden. But that wouldn't be a good move. I'm trying to put together a quality and diverse collection to enjoy. I think that's why I was happy to spend more on higher end guitars. Does that sound snobby?

It's not like I'm a pro player after all...

The blonde is still 459 at Andertons, though I like all three main colours.

Looks like they offer free delivery to NI over £99? DV247 offer the same deal and free shipping too.
Most of the other big stores charge £20(+)

Id love the Elitist in Blonde but id be happy with the cheaper model in Sunburst. If I went 335 id have to have a cherry Red one. The postage to NI is always a killer but thankfully I havent been stung by delivery in quite a while. Buying privately over eBay or forums hurts because individuals cant absorb the postage costs like business's can.

But but but!!! I went from thinking "I'll go to Dawson's in Belfast with £470 and try one out" to "now, if I use that £470 as a deposit against the 330 how much will the payments be?"

    Yikes!
I saw this in PMT Salford this morning.
It looks amazing and I want it but it costs about three times what my car is worth.

Me and @basher have discussed this on a few threads over the last few years. I went looking at Casinos a few years ago and and ended up up a new Korean one. They do, or rather did exist in 2013, but I've since played Chinese ones that are just as good if not better.  At the time my impression was:
     - the Korean was better put together. The fretwork, finishing, and overall feel were better the then Chinese ones I played. The color looked better and the F holes were neater.
     -  the pickups in the Korean were f*cking awful. Dull, loud, lifeless. The Chinese ones were so far ahead it was hilarious.
     - the hardware on both was just ok. Not bad, but not great either. They're not an expensive guitar, but for the money you'd expect a bit more.

So I went with the Korean purely becase I could change the bad stuff pretty easily, and as it stands the only thing on it I haven't changed is the nut and frets. Everything else has been upgraded.

    image

The pickups were changed first. The boy Ash at Oil City (@TheGuitarWeasel) did this for me becuase it was a fiddley job with different pole piece measurements, but everything else I did myself over time. I've only played an Elitist Casino once, but I've played an Elitist Riviera loads a a friend has one. In terms of quality under the fingers my guitar is every bit as good.

    So in short:
     - there are great chinese ones out there and the pups on them are pretty good
     - consider what you can change when buying it.
     - you'll have a totally great guitar if you spend a bit of money on it, but don't expect to get that money back on resale.

Thanks for taking the time to summarise this for me mate :)

I actually have Oil City pups in my Jaden so im happy with how good they are. As far as upgrades go this is where id ponder whether or not its just as wise to buy a used Elitist as opposed to upgrading a Chinese one. One could get carried away with add bits and pieces to a guitar.

Im going to have to get to Belfast to play a Chinese one I reckon. You'd think after owning numerous Casinos, Sheratons and Supernovas that I wouldnt be having these "issues"!

I played a Gary Clark casino today while trying out a looper pedal. Workmanship seemed good, better than my 97 MIK Riviera in terms of binding and inlays. Sounded fantastic too, really nice tone. Only thing I didn't like was the neck which felt kind of odd to me, D shaped with an almost flat feeling back.

I'm thinking about getting either an elitist casino or es 330 at some point, if I decide to move my Johnny Marr Jag on. They really sound lovely, just need a neck I can get on with.
And you know what else? Those safety lids on bottles of sanatogen. There I am trying to get the lid off and along comes my six year old and says "there you are daddy" and it's off in a Jiffy. Someone's gonna get hurt.

Hey guys, I was hoping for some words of wisdom on this...

Having owned a plethora of epi's in the past I have no doubt they were all mainly Korean in origin. I have been feeling a strong urge to return to the brand that started my love of guitars in general (massive oasis, weller, Brit rock fan). But the "made in China" stickers on the new Casinos leaves me... Well, hollow (pardon the pun).

So, after a little research I was chuffed to see that Epiphone make the Casino Elitist which would be perfect for me it would appear. But do any of you guys have first hand experience with these £1500 beasts?

  • had one back in 2010. most resonant guitar i ever played. but, slim taper neck. have a lennon 1965, better neck. not quite as resonant. but a bit better made. also have now a revolution lennon. totally different animal. the neck like the elitist, slim taper. whereas the 1965 sunburst lennon is not as acousticlly inclined, more electric. the revolution is louder than my acoustic guitar. incredibly resonant. but further up the neck notes do not sustain as good, and action is more difficult. makes me wonder if they actually make the revolution to different specs that the 65. i have only played one of each. sorry to get off the subject.

It amazes me that they haven't yet - it should be an instant hit. He's very associated with it, easily enough for a signature model. It wouldn't be a difficult or expensive guitar to make either.

I had a non-cutaway '57 ES-125T a long time ago - essentially the same guitar - which I never really liked much, but that was then and I like a lot of different stuff now...

    They basically have
