Guys, I have a chap wanting to give me this in a deal against my jp6, can anyone advise on its worth and authenticity

Its a custom shop vos nickle I'm told.

do you have pics of the rear of the headstock with serial number
any Custom Shop Certificate with it - in a CD size leather brown wallet
Should have tags and the gold warranty info sheet which will also have the model number on it

looks okay so far based on pics I can see

Must have been a small run with nickel hardware and aged finish

does it have any certificate with it - wallet format or A4 paper certificate - if it is a 2014 model it should have a wallet certificate with it

I'ma bit confused at this stage - the serial number is probably 2014 (thanks to the 4) - the next 0 would then indicate Nashville and the 0812 indicate how many made to date in that year - But I can't recall a C/Shop LP Custom with this level of wear/age on it - Easy to forget as Gibson duck n dive so much on small limited runs and I'm a bit cautious as to a previous owner has undertaken additional wear ?

They did an LP Custom around 2004 period with nickel - but the switch backplate cover indicates a later era

Any LP fans on FB seen this exact model before

I would assume it's a 68 reissue with plenty of actual non-factory wear - they've done plenty of those with nickel.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I can't make out that serial number on the reverb link - in many ways a C/Shop is the same/similar to 68 replica but a different serial number system - The above reverb link appears to be a 68 replica whereas @keithf enquiry is about a non specific dated Custom Shop model - not really better/worse as a guitar - I suspect it has been aged further by a previous owner - suspected not certain -

Does it have an ebony board - rosewood (I know Gibson ran a few with rosewood) or richlite

based on what I know and seen so far and based on what an 80's or 90's LP Custom would sell for then min £2000 and maybe £2500 if patient - mint then more but not with that wear

It's not a '68 reissue because the *last* digit of the serial number would be an 8. It would also have an ABR-1 bridge rather than a Nashville, and kidney bean Grovers or waffleback keystones rather than regular keystones.

This is a regular 2014 Les Paul Custom with nickel hardware, possibly with changed knobs and with a rosewood or richlite board. These retail for around £3k so the second-hand value would be c.£2k, but much less in this case given the wear.

I'd say the lame attempt at ageing would limit its value to £1k. This would be a hard guitar to shift for any more than that.

There was. A guitarist in my town had one but didn't gel with it. He sold it (and a terrible amplifier) to a friend of mine.

The friend applied a 6x7" black band name sticker on the body, between the tailpiece and the strap button. More significantly, he would insist on wearing a thumb ring whilst playing. This left a succession of criss-cross indentations along the back of the neck, just below the binding - almost where the finish has been lost on the OP guitar.

When I first saw the OP photographs, I wondered whether it was the same guitar. My friend's example had Jim Dunlop strap locks fitted. I don't recall a "special" selector switch cavity cover plate but it did have a decal on the back of the headstock. I cannot recall whether it read Custom Shop or Historic.

My friend kept the Certificate Of Authenticity. It is the orange Custom, Art & Historic type with the white boxes for the model ID and serial number.
