You get the almost up to the chin high players

Then the Gunslingers at the opposite end

So how high do you wear your guitars?

I generally set them so the middle of the guitar is about belt height maybe a tad lower which just feels right to me..   So im low compared to some people I see play, but not like Slash and Page...

  • I a chin player with guitar and bass, I find it really comfortable and alot easier to play, my wrists just dont understand the lowsliging.

Yeah I have tried it and my wrist has to bend so much down there it hurt..  I do have to wonder if they do it more to try and look cool  than anything else ?

Each to their own I guess  :)

I don't know how they do it down by the knees.  Slash must have arms like an orang-utan.

I've always played with a guitar pretty low. If they are too high it looks silly.

    Higher than this:

Around waist height is comfortable for me. Any lower and I struggle to hybrid pick.

A couple of inches below where Tom Morello has it in that picture.  I guess that's high by rock standards, but I get troubles with my left wrist below that and don't like my right hand position with it any higher.

Somewhere in the middle for a Strat, PRS fans semis feel more comfortable a touch higher up with Tele and LPs a touch lower.

  • 335 - pretty high

Strat - much lower but not stupidly so.

Too low makes bar chords difficult and is a recipe for hand problems. I’m not - and never have been cool - so that aspect doesn’t bother me....

335s are almost a special case, I reckon - the body is so wide that it can be up under your armpit and the neck still doesn't feel all that high.

I have fenders high but not tom morello high, gibsons feel better slung low to me. I have my SG a bit lower than normal and to the side a bit which puts the neck at a bit more of a normal position. Can't have it high otherwise the neck is way too left.

I prefer it rather low for purely rhythm playing as it gives me a more relaxed feeling, and more space, for my strumming hand. For lead I need it higher up.

  • Waist (paunch) height for me.

  • In the middle so around the midriff area, makes it comfortable to do rhythm and lead work.
