Finally finished my monochrome board (with alder & ash board) half tempted to auction it off and start again, I prefer the building and soldering process to getting around to play it!

That Boss Tonebender is the dogs...Never even knew they were on offer

Decided to downsize from the Diago Showman board to a more compact one as things were getting out of hand with modulation and so on. It was just too big. Really happy with this now.

    Tuner (before QM looper)
    VFE Stand Out
    VFE Fiery Red Horse
    Foxrox Aquavibe
    Big Knob 808
    Fulltone Supa-Trem
    MXR Carbon Copy
Chase Tone Secret Pre-Amp (after QM looper; always on)

There's a spare output on the Friedman Power Grid 10 so I can run an extra pedal, probably a wah mostly.

    This one goes to eleven

  • I've kinda 'downsized' - I've recently moved my Blues Power on which is weird because I've always said it's my favourite overdrive pedal - like a better Lightspeed! But I found myself preferring the Shanks ODS-1 for everything lately. I just added the Friedman Smallbox - a bit of a change of pace for me - enjoying the rock tones with a humbucker - I don't stack the Vemuram or Friedman at all.

I'm running the Dolly Dagger fuzz with a Gig Rig battery box which I do find makes a difference - it's a germanium fuzz. It's just a little bit more relaxed sounding. The wah is powered by the Cioks power supply as I always forget unplug!

... no board changes for the rest of the year ...  :# :o ;)

Your boards more than any others, are always full to the brim of pedals I’ve never tried (more of an achievement than it sounds)yet I always think I’d have a ruddy bloody great time playing through them

Big fan of Dan Coggins. Just reluctantly sold a Lovetone Big Cheese and Doppleganger (Brown Source still up for sale :-), I still have a Tube Bender and an OPA-101. What do you think of the Cogmeister?

    Monster Rig ! ! !

    Snip!

I bet it sounds great though.

I used to attend a blues/jazz jam session and one guy who regularly came always brought a large pedal board and fancy expensive gear. He would swamp his tone in fx and it did not sound great, especially for the genre.
Then one week he turned up with a pro junior, one reverb pedal and a Strat and he sounded fantastic.  He never did it again though unfortunately.

Posted elsewhere, but this setup is a delight. Only potential changes I could foresee would be a POG instead of the OC5, maybe (?) a different fuzz to the Big Muff eventually, and I can’t pretend I’m not jonesing over the new Morningstar ML10X, which would mean another solderless cable kit too.

On that actually, a word of recommendation for the new Boss solderless kits. I’ve had two of them now, and whilst they’re a bit of a pain to assemble (test and test again, to make sure the connection is sound) once you’ve got them right they’re really good. Solid, low profile - like them a lot. They’ve replaced a good bunch of my lava ultramafic that I’ve sworn by for years, as the ML5 is a bit fussy with the tapered jacks on the lava ones.

Re the Cog- it's great. I wanted something for Lifesony rhythm tones and that's exactly what it's great at. Bung the boosters on and instant solo sounds too.

Marshally type thing a pre gain boost. The boost can also be switched to a fuzz. About to try it out out rehearsal, although not with my own amp.
