Advancements in technology. This was just a small step towards Musk's overall vision for the future. He wants humans to live on Mars, and ultimately other planets too.

Against the current backdrop of World leaders, more of an anti-villain, but I get your point. I quite like the idea of Elon sat on a leather chair with a fluffy cat opining "No Mr Trump, I expect you to fail!"

I'd love to see footage of Mr. Musk watching the very successful launch, just to gauge how maniacal he was looking. If he was grinning like a child at the launch like I was, we're probably safe.

He started with very little back in South Africa. Now he's putting a permanent object in a solar orbit.  Don't know what he is like as a person but his achievements of turning his dreams into reality have already carved his place in history. And he's only 46...

Of course it’s actaully an advert for cheap space travel. The car thing is a bonus. I don’t see how it’s “yawn” unless you’re dead inside and/or hate progress?!

Yeah, if Musk was a true innovator he would be putting out valve amps based on 1960's designs or making guitars with the neck stuck on with 1950's period correct glue.
