As I recall it, pirate Fred was apprenticed to the Pirate King until his 21st birthday - not his 21st year - so although he was desperate to quit pirating and marry his true lurve (incidentally the daughter of the Modern Major General) the letter of his contract meant that he wouldn’t celebrate birthday 21 until 1940, quite a big deal for a young chap in a bit of musical slapstick in 1890 ish.

Ah I see. Yes it does through up some interesting scenarios. I keep telling the wife that I can't get married until I'm 64 therefore our marriage is null and void, but she won't have any of it.
