Yep. I’m not a fan of canned ale either.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

I've just struggled my way through a 4-pack of Murphy's tinnies and they were God-awful. Not to be repeated. Took me 4 days and for me that's most unusual.

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder

    My trading feedback  - I'm a good egg  ;)

Good, seek those ones out again.

From drinking different tins of Guinness the ‘DRAUGHT’ one, with the widget is so much better than the non-widget tin/bottle versions.  Much closer to what you will get from a poured pint in a pub also.

I used to love this stout back in the day, but nowhere seems to sell it now. Does anyone have it on tap in their local?
Interesting. They had it at the Ryder Cup in France last year, and you can often find it in Irish pubs here in Germany.

  • So how come I'm the only person to mention Beamish? Was it not seen much in England?
Any stout'll do me apart from Sam Smiths.

It used to be available, but I always thought it was rank. Gillespie's was ok, but not a shade on Guinness or Murphy's. There's a Scottish stout called Belhaven Black, which is ok for a pint or 2, but too sweet for anything more than that I find.

  • A few bars here have it on tap, I'm not a fan myself though and would take always take Guinness.

  • For those still interested in London pubs stocking Murphys I have found the Nelson near Southwark tube and The Hope near Goodge St both stock it. Also a small South London pub chain called Parched seem have it in most if not all of there 6 or so pubs.

I think it's discontinued on draft, but still active in NI so can still be had by those willing to go that route.

I can check next week when I'm back in work.

Nothing competes well with Guinness for that space on the bar

Edit.  Just realised how old this thread is

stout lovers should try the blackheart by brewdog. not a fan of brewdog stuff normally, and stumbled across it, but since then gallons of the stuff has been poured down my gizzard
    Dont worry, be silly.

used to love Murphy's   - a tad easier on the palette than Guinness more of a "session stout" and a mile better than Beamish (too sweet)
just because you don't, doesn't mean you can't

  • There's a guy who posted something on Twitter about The Hope near Goodge Street. Apparently the landlord's from Cork. It looks like it started a stampede to go there! I hope Heineken make a big push to bring it back as it'd save me having to go to Cork to have few pints.
