Thanks for posting these. A night to remember is easily in my top 3 of his tracks. Just so good and nice to see a live version.

My pleasure @hubobulous & @Dave_Mc, and everyone else who enjoyed those performances   :)

A night to Remember is easily one of my favourite A.T. tracks, and he is always exciting live, re-inventing lines and feel.  If you find 3 live versions you will probably find 3 different interpretations.  It takes courage to lay yourself open to improvisation ~ well that and being such a great player to pull it off with class and style !

    A most excellent ~ Premier Guitar ~ Rig Rundown ~ posted 29 March 2016
In fact more than just a rig rundown, well worth watching IMO.

"Andy Timmons is currently on the Ultimate Guitar Experience tour with fellow 6-stringers Jennifer Batten and Uli John Roth. Before their soundcheck in Nashville at the Basement East, Timmons demonstrated how he gets studio-quality tones onstage."

BTW, life has taken over a bit lately, with work pressures and not being too well for a while, so I have rather neglected my AT researches, and certainly not had the opportunity to keep things up to date for months now.

If any of you good folk out there have anything to contribute, it would be greatly appreciated  :)

I would have loved to have attended this, if only I had known !
(and maybe a few other things had been different too)

Paul Gilbert's Great guitar escape 3

    Bumblefoot, and Mimi Fox
4 days and nights of non-stop guitar, start to finish

I wonder who else on here would love to take one of these immersive guitar break opportunities if they had the chance ?

I dont know any more infos.  The last thing I saw was his PG Rig Rundown video, I don't think his rig has changed that much since then.

I've never heard Timmons before, this thread has been very educational for me, I like his playing! This is a bit of a stupid question, but what genre of music is this type of playing called?

Instrumental rock.  He plays with a very slight jazz influence at times.

  • In answer to the OP. He got his sound by practicing a lot every day for many years.

  • Sssshhhhhhh, don't let everyone know, they'll all be at it,

and this would be the shortest thread ever, with just 5 views !

The clinic tour, now that'll be fun, "Hi", play a song, secret revealed, go home, over in 7 minutes.

And just think of poor Andy's interviews, introduction, revelation... briefest interview ever !!

1reaction image LOL 0reaction image Wow! 0reaction image Wisdom
  • Actually ~ scratch that last thought, probably not the briefest of interviews...

Andy can talk for England (err, well the US-of-A actually!), even my missus could barely get a word in   :-O

If talking was an Olympic sport Andy would probably get the Gold !

(all interesting stuff and a great guy though, I could listen for hours, Hi there Andy, if you are reading this   O:-) )
