Best sigs ever?

What's Hot
Sig guitars are polarising but sometimes they're, you know, sig guitars!

Buckethead lp. https://www.gak.co.uk/en/gibson-buckethead-signature-les-paul/27711

First glance, lp. But then...

27 inch scale

Oversize body

Killswitch

Custom neck profile

Genuine signature guitar - not just a standard guitar with slightly different pickups and a sig on the headstock. I think that's my favourite :)

The Joe Trohmann Squier Tele is pretty good. PRS Tremonti and the SE version have carved out their own niche.

Meh Tremonti sig = prs singlecut with different pickups, no?

    Vai deserves some credit
The Jem pretty much defined what a shred guitar is via the RG.
The universe kicked off all the 7 string stuff.

I guess Tosin Abasi is doing the same thing for the new generation of technical guys.

Grissom with the DGT made what I think is the best modern guitar design out there along with the McCarty which I think he helped to design.

If I get another guitar I think it will probably be a Jim Root Tele. That's a super cool concept.

I’ve got a j Mascis jazzmaster which is very good. He apparently uses them on tour although I gather he changes the pickups!

Don't they have different control layouts and one has a maple cap?

PRS didn't have a singlecut when the Tremonti came out.

I believe he designed it with them.

The L-5 Wes Montgomery, the ES-335 Larry Carlton and the 6120 Setzer Hot Rods are pretty cool. I don't know if the Lucille is a signature model strictly speaking, but if it is, Lucille.

Robert Cray Strat, as I mentioned on the worst sig thread.  Because it's a hardtail.

The Clapton Strat with the mid boost seems to have transcended its signature guitar status quite successfully.

I agree on the Jim Root Tele - good choice of electronics, hardware and finish, they all work together really well.

The Buckethead LP is cool as well, but it's made for a 6'6" bloke with a bucket on his head and I'd look like Wee Jimmy Krankie if I played one.

    Too many to recount.

I have a few, which are ok the Trohmann Squier and the Bjorn Gelotte Epi LPC.

According to the Martin forum, the Dan Tyminski D28 was supposed to be one of the finest modern Martins.

No idea who this guy is but this another artist Martin which looks amazing

On a personal note, I'm very fond of my Lee Roy Parnell CS-336 - black VOS finish, ebony board, '59 profile neck.  There's really nothing about it I'd want to change.  I'm glad I managed to get hold of one, there aren't many of them around.

I always quite liked the Johnny A guitar ( I would have to swap out the gold hardware though)

Agree. The JoBo Johnny A Spruce one might have been the finest Gibbo for a while. I'd have bought one in a heartbeat if I had the funds.

Great shout. Arguably the definitive Jaguar, specced by an enthusiast, fixing the issues with the main version.

Jim Root strat/Tele. The strat has a compound radius neck which is cool. I'd quite like one of them, either model. I'm not into traditional Fenders, and since discovering I actually don't mind 25.5" scale guitars the Tele especially ticks all the boxes for me. Even the Squier one looks good, the only thing it's missing is the ebony fretboard - not fussed about EMGs as I'd probably fit something else anyway.

I really like the LTD Bill Kelliher model too. I'm a big Mastodon fan anyway but its the only LTD Eclipse to have a 12" radius, has a nice ebony fretboard and I like the unique colour too. Full thickness body with the smooth neck heel - usually on LTD you get one or the other. The 2 knob control layout would work for me though I'd have to just ditch a tone control and have 2 volumes instead.
