I’m sure that will be a fantastic guitar, Ibanez just don’t make anything else. Still showing a little stock in Brum too.

My local tech's favourite guitar is an artcore similar to this with iron gear pickups in. He prefers it over his high end PRSs etc and it's what he gigs and rehearses with. I think solid body guitars are overrated

  • I have phoned and apparently the Paisley tele sold ‘in store’ which still doesn’t ring true! Anyway, refund hopefully today.

I would suggest anyone concerned with a purchase they have made in past 24 hours give them a call to clarify.

I didn’t get one in the end, but a 335 style Guitar will be what I get next (Epiphone Casino/Ibanez AS73/Hagstrom Viking or something similar)
Often find myself looking at the Eastmans when online, but VFM & just playing at home for my own enjoyment those ^ look hard to beat.

    @roberty ;
Thats high praise that he prefers it over his PRS. I wonder what model it was, as there are a few that look quite similar and RRP prices are between £350-£2000-ish

I’m gonna resist the temptation for now!

  • Some of the best deals I've ever had were from PMT.  If you were on the site early yesterday they had a couple of good offers, mainly a PRS Custom 24 (USA core) for around £1650, a Music Man JP Majesty for £1995 - both brand new.

Still showing as available now. Totally unacceptable

Even if they refund you immediately it will can still take up to 3-4 days to hit your account again meaning you don’t have the funds available to buy elsewhere

Was it being followed by a gaggle of angry dudes all claiming it was theirs?

  • I just spotted a Yamaha A1M acoustic for £167. I had to take a chance at that price. Hopefully it is actually in stock and the price is correct!!
Alas it was already sold even though it was showing in stock. Have to wait for my refund now. I paid via PayPal as well so it could be a while. You think with today’s tech they could have their stock levels automatically update on the website!!

If you paid by card IME refunds back to said card from PayPal commercial accounts happen pretty fast once they action it - if you paid out of a current account though it might take 5-7 days.

Was there any indication that they understand it damages their reputation? I had a similar experience with another shop and I haven’t so much as looked at the website since.

I didn’t get the impression they were awful people or anything, but with so many alternatives available, all it takes is one unfortunate episode and a bit of a ‘so what’ attitude to make sure that a customer never comes back.

  • Oh btw I also bought a PRS sonzera 50 head just to see what that was like. No indication that it was an ex demo or used, but it came in a Mapex box and without the footswitch....so that's not really what was listed....

My Marshall has arrived, it was advised as Preowned but in pretty darn good nick. The side plastic grab handles are not up to taking the full weight of it (yep, it snapped) which is a bummer. Otherwise, some pots need some cleaner etc etc but seems fine.

There wasn't a footswitch but it didn't say it Came with one..

This is the thing with Pmt, I’ve had some good service from the local store, though a real real low ball, almost a we dont want it price for a recent trade in was a little disappointing.
I actually only went there with the intention of trading in for a gretsch which showed as in stock in that store, but got there, they checked their system and said there are none in the company..

I did eyeball 3 boxes labelled Gretsch waiting on the shop floor and did wonder whether it had just come in. Didnt chase it though as the part ex value was half that of what GG and cash converters offered (for cash no less).

    But.

What I’ve come to learn is, they dont often carry multiples of the same thing for a given store, so if the stock checker shows as ‘limited stock’ that means 1, and its out on display.

Same with ordering thru the site. You’ll get the floor stock wherever your order was allocated if they have none in the warehouse.

Same can be said for a few retailers.

Thing is, I’m in the camp of ‘Id prefer brand new boxed’ if I’m paying the same price for a display model.

I also understand a store cant possibly list everything continuously thats been opened and used on the floor as ex demo, though technically it is. So as long as its in as new condition and comes with everything its not too much of an issue.

If I go into a store, like I did when I bought my Lp Junior from them, I played the floor model, they let me compare a brand new one, and I preferred the looks of the floor model so went with that.

But generally if a place shows as 1 in stock I’ll just presume thats on display and therefore could be ex demo condition.
Upside is, if its anything but what I want I’ll just send it back.

This is why I like andertons for ordering blind.  They show stock levels and quantities snd location. You know exactly what you’ll get.
They also tell you that if 1 in stock in the store then its been on display etc.

They will also arrange the return courier for £15 if its unwanted so much easier and cheaper.

The only easy day, was yesterday...
