    edited December 2020
    Out:

Shedloads of pedals (Helix Stomp killed pedal gas)
Some junk I didn't need (Squier Hank Marvin, two Ibanez EX370s, Cheri TL Heavy, Fender Starcaster)
Gibson J35 (Yamaha LL26 killed acoustic guitar gas)
    Eastman E10SS (see above)
Gibson R8 2017 (too nice to actually play)
Gretsch 5128 in gold sparkle (to a really ungrateful buyer - probably regret this one)
John Page Classic AJ (very nice, too many guitars)
Taylor SB1 Classic (again very nice, too many guitars)

    In:
Yamaha LL26 (bought from their Wardour Street store, best guitar in the shop, makes every other acoustic I own(ed) sound and play like a cheapo, play this every day, a proper life-changing guitar)
Squier Japan Strat (needs a refurb, nice little project)
Yamaha RGX320FZ (second one of these, so good for the money, couldn't resist)
Keyser capo (I use this more than any of the other gear I bought!)
Keeley Aria (not as good as the Visual Sound Route 66)
    Barefaced 12" cab
Yamaha DBX10 pair with subwoofer (money has been going on PA/studio gear this year)
Genelec 8010A (for use in home studio with Helix)
Ibanez AZ2204 (because I don't have a do-it-all guitar, this might mean I can sell more stuff.  And for doing Grade 8 on.)
Loads of Trinity grade books in guitar, drums and vocals
    Roland drum bits

    In and out:
Ibanez RG450 (probably regret moving this on as well, although objectively the Wizard neck and huge frets weren't my thing.  AZ should trump it.)

Covid was such a mental game-changer personally it took a while to come to terms with what was going on.  Still not sure my subconscious is entirely accepting of it TBH.  I was probably depressed, didn't play guitar for months, and started to sell stuff off.  And bought a motorbike instead, which really helped.  Plus I see a few new drummers here, which I did too.  Trinity drums grade 1 and 2 went a long way to saving my sanity.  No regrets overall, and I'm back on tFB again after months off.

I found myself in a band where I do more singing and less guitaring.  Which means I'm happy to turn up with a guitar and a Helix Stomp and nothing else. Sounds awesome.  Are guitars and amps on the verge of obsolescence?

Moral of the story - you're not as in control of your life as you think you are.  Roll with the punches, look after yourself and your family, and if you have time and energy left, help anyone else who needs it.

Nice to see you back @Modellista - you were missed here and in Another Place!

I didn't think I'd had much gear movement this year, but on reflection, tthere has been a bit:

    In
Squier bitsa Strat (mostly Classic Vibe but not all)
Squier FSR Purple Sparkle Tele Deluxe
    Yamaha BB424 bass
    Egnater Tweaker 112 combo
    Jet City Attenuator
    Boss DD-3
    Boss RV6 (I think)

    Out
    Reverend Jetstream 390
    Roland Blues Cube Artist
    Mooer Blues Mood
    (Hopefully) Peavey Milestone III

    Regrets
I've had a few None relating to gear.

Not a regret as such, but I'm still pretty cheesed off that Covid hit before 'my' originals band actually started gigging in full trim, rather than just the two prime movers. Also sad that it will never happen, as Covid prompted my primary partner in crime to relocate an unfreasible distance away (and I really can't blame him, totally the right thing for him to do), and that coupled with all the restrictions meant the band fell apart before it got going.

Related to which, it means the Jet City head/cab acquired in 2019 have had virtually no use, as they were for gigging purposes. So I feel naughty about those, but a) that was 2019 and b) it's an incentive to try and find people to get something off the ground again when the worls opens up again.

    New Year Clearout?
No, although there are a couple of guitars that I keep looking at and thinking "Do I really need you?". Yes, that's you, Fenix Telecaster and SG Special.

Has COVID completely changed your outlook on gear
Not on gear, no - I'd pretty much come to the conclusion that I already had way more than I needed and was beginning to calm down a little.

I have had recurring blues over not being able to get out and do open mics, and not being able to try to find a few other people locally to partner up with on some originals. There have been periods of writing stuff, followed by periods of "What's the bloody point, and you're crap anyway, give up you twat" - which are fairly normal, but much more pronounced this year. Helping friends celebrate their successes (genuinely) has also rubbed salt in a couple of times, but if anything it's made me more determined to actually pull some stuff together and find a way to do something, and if no-one likes it, fine, sod 'em ;)

    IN

Prince of Tone, Zendrive and FD2 Mosfet bought in one transaction and a single malt was not involved. Bits and pieces, strings, tuner etc. That was in Feb when I did things.

    OUT

Musicman Stingray and a Markbass combo went to my sons flat and is staying there unless he gives up playing. The way he was navigating around my NS NXT probably means it's gone for good. Also out is any intention of being a bassist again.

    REGRETS

Not pulling the trigger on some instruments-see COVID

    COVID

It's been a roller coaster for me this year. I was working from home, ill with a bad cold for a month, furloughed, made redundant, on garden leave, offered a job, redeployed, went back to the office and sent home again. Currently working from home mainly. All of that means that whilst I have by no means had it as bad as a lot of people I know, I have not bought anything that wasn't edible or combustible.

    NEXT YEAR

I didnt pull the trigger on a 64 Candy Apple Red Jazzmaster, see REGRETS and COVID. Same with a Night Sky. Now I'm not sure if I need more electrics and toys I dont need. My band hasnt rehearsed since Feb. They are all friends so I keep in touch. I might start down the road and get some acoustics.

Great to see you back Mart, singing drummers are the future ;)

How have you found the barefaced cab? What speaker did you get in it?

    Crafter SA Hybrid Acoustic/Electric
    2003 Gretsch 6120 Jnr
2020 Epiphone "Inspired By Gibson" Les Paul Special
    Line 6 Pod Go

    Out:

    Fender CP-140 Parlour acoustic
    1983 Fender Strat

    In then Out:

2004 MiK Epiphone Casino - lovely thing, but was surplus to requirements and needed some cash to fund...

2018 Gretsch 6228 Player's Edition Jet - brilliant guitar, didn't want to sell and would have another in a heartbeat. However, I joined a 50's style Rock n Roll band so it had to make way for the hollow-bodied Bigsby-loaded Gretsch mentioned above.

Since lockdown started I think my band have managed a grand total of 6 rehearsals and 0 gigs. Not quite sure it was worth all the cost and effort of the buying and selling, but it was something to pass the time at least!!  =)

Is that regret you ever bothered, or regret for a dream shattered, or regret it's gone ?

    That I ever bothered.

Well, it was a beautiful guitar to be fair, and one I'd had in the back of my mind for decades as a possible perfect guitar for me, but I just didn't gel with it in practice.
