Bang Kevin Carter on! One of their best ever tracks.

I love Everything must go, not a dud track on the whole album. I also think Send Away the Tigers is a superb album as well so gonna put it here. Hit play and carry on browsing the forum in a new tab.

Excellent choice. Autumnsong is a gem for me.

Yeah. I love the simple intro, just works so well.

With reference to the somewhat underrated 'Know your enemy'. I note Ian above 'gave up' after this offering. I personally loved it. It cleverly swung from moody rock to 'nice' throughout (which is what I love about the Manics). These two tracks are simply excellent and demonstrate what I mean:

    Moody:

Nice (with a great touch of comedy):

    They're a great band @Deadman

I'm envious of someone who is listening to their music for the first time. I've not been quite as into their music post 2000, but they have still released some good stuff in that period, maybe I've not listened to enough.

The new single is great though.

Couldn't quite catch what Guitar he is playing here, it's very bling though.

I also had no idea that Joey Barton had started playing Drums for them at 3:21

    ;-)

Ahhh, cheers Dave. Never really had much of a look at those, which is odd cos I love ogling Fender Guitars. I'm quite taken with how it looks.

I see it was discontinued from 1982 until 2013, which is probably why they escaped my radar. Why do Guitar companies discontinue lovely Guitars? same thing happened with the Esprit did it not?

A great slice of punky hard rock.

Generation Terrorists and Gold against the soul to start with, especially as you liked Motorcycle Emptiness.

Huge fan of 'The Holy Bible', even managed to see that tour with Richie still about :) Difficult listen perhaps unless you're a fan.

For anyone into the Manics, you might enjoy my mate's new band:

They're getting some rave reviews prior to their debut album release next week. Anyways, just thought I'd plug them a wee bit.

Edit: thanks to everyone for the recommendations.  It's a shame I missed the Manics the first time round, but I suppose it's never too late.

Fucking hell, Spiders in Hull - I remember playing a gig with Eureka Machines in a venue just 'round the corner from there (Adelphi, maybe?) and then getting ABSOLUTELY ARSEHOLED in Spiders. I'm pretty sure I scored, too, but I genuinely can't be certain.

I've always really hated the Manics mostly because of what a colossal twat Nicky Wire is, but I feel like I should listen to some of their early albums with fresh ears.

  • Yeah was the Adelphi in hull at that time . If you couldnt score in spiders you were destined for a lonely life.

Completely agree. I think most Manic lovers would. You just need to ignore it. I know I have to.

Start early and ignore later stuff as IMO they are going downhill a bit and the last three albums all sounded the same. Shame as the early stuff was genius and they are awesome live
