“Everybody Dance” Chic.. Bernard at his best.
”Once  in a Lifetime” Talking Heads (so simple, so effective!)
“Ain’t no Mountain High Enough” probably my fav JJ line.
    “Love Like Blood” Killing Joke
”Run For Cover” Dave Sanborn .. Marcus wrote it too!
Just about anything by Kings X
“Teen Town” just one example of Jacos mastery.
    “Tear Your Playhouse Down” ...Pino!
    ”Valley Girl” ...Zappa... (Scott Thunes)
”Them Changes” ... Thundercat... if you don’t know this, check him out right now...
There’s LOADS  more I’m sure I’ll think of in the middle of the night.
    Told ya!..
“Annie ain’t got no Panties” Erykah Badu.
    “The Pot” Tool

If it were only possible to remove David Sanborn from Run For Cover it’d be absolutely perfect. Probably one of the 1st CDs that I ever bought, early digital productions with Sanborns Alto Sax don’t go well together in my book.

My favourite Bernard Edwards bass line  would have to be My Forbidden Lover.

I know James Jamerson has been rightly mentioned here, but.......

    Papa was a Rollin’ Stone

    .....simplicity......but a stone cold classic

Would anyone else agree? I’m listening to a few isolated tracks it becomes even more apparent how similar JPJ is to JJ.... oh damn ... even their initials are pretty much the same!
Seriously though... just shows what a huge influence JJ was at the time and ever since... and how crazily musical JPJ is. (Zeps not so secret weapon).

Some great answers so far and many I'd agree with, but amazed we have got this far and no mention yet of Andy Fraser/Free and Mr Big and to think still a kid when such songs were recorded

That guy who used to play bass with Joe Jackson was pretty good. Think his name was Graham Mayby.

I like a clever bass line but I like a driving one too, so

With or without you - U2  ..... when the song has gone to the  quiet ish bit and the bass rests on the D, then comes back in with the 4 note riff you realise it's been driving the whole song.

Grooving with Mr Bloe - Mr Bloe  - brilliant driving bass

Don't give up - Peter Gabriel  .... clever little riff with the bass playing thirds with it's self, creates the movement for  the whole song

Dr Feelgood - Motley Crue ... just reeks of menace and attitude

Hey You - Floyd but played by Gilmour I think. Just amazing bit of fretless
