I think given that all Mac and iPad Pro both have the same processor and they've added support for IOS apps to OSX I can see them moving to one universal app and the operating systems merging together over the next 2-3 years.

That being the case I imagine things like `Logic for iPad pro will be quite likely.

As the iMac announcement is for M1/24"screen I'll bet there'll be a M3/27" screen top end one next ..... to fill the top end iMac and gap left by ending the iMac Pro

M3 or M1X for the 27” 5k with hopefully a no chin design

I am hoping they keep expandable RAM like the current 27" RAM but I'm not hopeful about it.

It's almost certain they won't.

The new Macs are so small because the whole thing is a fully integrated SoC like a mobile phone. You aren't going to have socketed RAM.

It's a possibility for the Mac Pro I think, but even then maybe not.

The silver lining is that there really is only 1 thing to upgrade for performance.

Before you can choose to upgrade the CPU, SSD, RAM and Graphic.  With Thunderbolt you can run external SSD off it, there is only 1 choice of CPU, there is no GFX upgrade so you just max the RAM and call it a day.

Did that for the Mac Mini at work.  Core apps on the internal, everything external, 16G RAM and done.

Yeah, the design is really disappointing, it should've been more like the Surface Studio, with a Mac Mini at the base and with a screen attached to the top.

Do the prices of the older models start to come down pretty much immediately, or will there be months more of waiting once they're out?

Well, assuming my bass sells today to the chap coming to try it out I will be getting a new iPad.

Just have to decide between the latest Air and the Pro. Although that decision might be made by the larger screen option for the Pro. Might be nicer for putting on a music stand with the big band (September ETA for rehearsals) and for the pencil use.

Decisions decisions!

WWDC starts today, keynote at 6pm - although no new ipad hardware news expected but they will detail new ipadOS etc

Amazon prime day later this month for potential discounts

They may well be unveiling the next gen M1x/M2 Macbook Pro today (or at least this week). 

I'm there on day 1 if all the rumours are true
