Anyone had a set up from J White Guitars in Ash Vale?

These are my two precious b bender guitars - that cost circa £7k a piece. The blonde one was brand new and unplayed before I took them to J whites. The sunburst is my no. 1; that’s been all around the world with me

The work I had requested was really very simple.

Primarily; the installation of Monty’s threaded neck inserts in all three guitars and full set ups

In addition to the above mentioned, I asked that they insert nectite brand pickguard threaded inserts into the body of the sunburst telecaster for both the pickguard and control plate. This was because years of pickup experimentation, and the multiple re installations of the pickguard etc, had left some of the screw holes pretty stripped

I was nervous about requesting this work, drilling and modifying expensive instruments with original Parsons-White B-Benders - hand fitted by my hero Gene Parsons….

but J White in his cocky, self-assured manner insisted that they’d fitted “…thousands of these…”.

I advised them that for the pickguard inserts, the manufacturer recommends a 5 to 5.5mm drill bit… they measured the diameter of the tiny inserts at 4.5mm and told me that they’d be using that size drill bit, as “…we don’t listen to the so called ‘experts’!!” As they scoffed.

Well would anyone like to take a wild guess at what J whites did, with the 3 No. sets of Monty’s neck inserts?

The first of his multitude of errors was that beyond all logic and comprehension, he drilled and fitted the Monty’s neck inserts into the body of the sunburst telecaster!!!

he then elected not to call me and alert me to this hideous mistake, and instead decided to remove the accidentally fitted neck inserts, crudely fill the large holes very roughly with an unknown material, fitted the little pickguard inserts with some way off centre (so none of them align with my pickguard) and to crudely touch up the resulting monstrosity…

It didn’t cross his mind to call me immediately and ask me to come in (along with my pickguard to confirm hole positions)

AND - they tried to invoice me fully for this!!!!

I’ll let you absorb this total abomination; before I move on to the shit show that followed, when he then removed the ‘neck inserts’ from the body and ‘installed’ them in the necks of the 3 guitars as outlined above..
