JazzBlaster build COMPLETE!!’

Righto, some invisible updates for now. Nut is finessed to "about right", a good 3-layers-of-stepped-cornflake-packet shim has been installed and intonation is set. Trem is also adjusted so the lock button works and the whole things gives good wobble in both directions because that's the whole point. 

Volume control is good and the pickups are at good heights based on this guide from Telenator on TDPRI. New 1M tone pot and replacement witch-hats are in the post and Lava has just contacted me to let me know he can cut me a tort guard this week (sorry guys, I like the black too but I have to try the tort). 

Most importantly I really like the pickups - Fendery but a little fatter and basically noiseless (though I may add a bit of shielding for belt/braces). And perhaps even more importantly, I took some more pictures. 

Now I just need to get a really proper neck on the go.

I also have a nice 59-style neck on order with Musikraft & MJT that should feel very much like my existing JM neck that I love. But that will take a good few weeks to arrive - I'm hoping it's here this side of xmas but no clue yet.

I’ve had a few off of that vendor, they’re really good for the money. He does also do semi custom stuff if you ask him

You guys… I just did a test fit of everything. It’s gonna be so fucking good…

It's done, for now. 

Test fit went well. It now has a linear volume and audio taper tone, both 1M. I also added a treble pass on the volume as that's often recommended. Fingers crossed that will work well. 




And a couple of finished pics. New shiny witch hats aged with some careful sanding, wrong coffee, a black furniture pen and a bit of scraping. I'm sure I ned to tweak the pickup heights again but I'm very happy. Should be pretty much done now until the new neck gets here.

I didn't dislike the black guard but my in-brain concept from the start was red tort, so I'm happy. The phone pictures really don't do it justice. I'll get some proper shots at the weekend.

Ah it's great still. I did see you said you wanted a 50s restomod vibe rather than the 70s look. Definitely nails that. Makes me wanna build a new JM/JB...

Thanks! It doesn't quite play as well as I'd like because this neck has a few sharp frets and I don't have the time or energy to put into it right now. I may sort those out depending on timings as the proper neck won't be here for a good while yet. But it sounds ace
