    Muse.
Not sure I agree with that. They improved for their first three albums at least.

    If you include solo artists…

    Meat Loaf

Bat Out Of Hell - top 100 album of all time. Everything afterwards - drivel.

(I know he made an album years before Bat Out Of Hell, but I've never heard it, like I suspect nearly everyone else!)

Reef. Really really liked their first album Replenish, second album Glow was a lot more radio friendly (had the hits on it) but okay, third album sucked, don't know if they did any more after that.

Oasis. Same as above really - great first album, radio-friendly second, sucky third and who cares after that?

Green Day. Same as above really...

The Stone Roses. Only would've sounded better if they'd turned up the bass.

    Second album merely OK.

American Idiot is a great record. A blip, granted, but a great record. Not going to argue with the others though.

I agree.  I went off them more and more with each release.  Stone Gossard's solo album
    Bayleaf is wonderful though.

Apologies for being obscure, but a band called Babylon AD sprang immediately to mind.  Anyone remember them?

Also Love/Hate and Living Colour.  Their second (and third) albums weren't drivel, exactly, but there was a definite tailing off.

I don't think either of them went backwards until much later though - Stereophonics after Language Sex Violence Other and Catatonia possibly not at all, even Paper Scissors Stone is good.

And Oasis and Guns 'n' Roses were never good to begin with ;).

The Killers - first album is stunning, everything else is tripe.

Much the same with King of Leon.

Totally disagree with that too. All the Killers albums are great, even Sawdust. Battle Born is maybe *slightly* less good, but I probably haven't listened to it enough yet. Sam's Town is the best one, Day & Age not far behind.

    Yes :).

I'll probably get laughed at for today's one, but here goes...

    Spandau Ballet

Journeys To Glory is really good, and Diamond isn't bad it just all went wrong after that…

(I'm going to have to edit this, since I've just listened to Diamond again after not hearing it for the best part of thirty years, and… no, it's shit too. But Journeys To Glory is still excellent.)
